Local Attractions

There are literally hundreds of wine tasting rooms in the surrounding area, from those in the Russian River Valley, Alexander Valley, Knights Valley and Chalk Hill to the Sonoma, Sonoma Mountain and Napa Valleys to the east, and the Anderson Valley to the North. (If you desire the services of a knowledgeable tour guide or need a designated driver, transportation can be hired.)

As to dining, the famous Farmhouse Restaurant is only 10 minutes away … plus numerous restaurants of all styles and tastes are located in Graton, Forestville, Sebastopol, Guerneville, Healdsburg, Santa Rosa and Sonoma. If you prefer the comforts of dining in, a private dinner prepared by a local chef can be arranged.

In addition to the pool and spa on property, outdoor activities are plentiful, including golf, tennis, hiking, biking and river fun (such as kayaking, rafting, canoeing and fishing). The Armstrong Woods State Park with towering redwoods over 1400 years old and 300 feet high is only 20 minutes away. And the Pacific Ocean is 45 minutes away, offering beach combing, sunset viewing, and charter boat whale watching or fishing trips. For star gazers, back at home the skies provide a panorama of stars on a clear, moon-free night.

In addition to outdoor activities, one can visit:

  • Numerous local antique stores on Gravenstein Highway in Sebastopol,
  • Charles M. Schulz Museum, housing the largest collection of Peanuts cartoon strips in the world,
  • ‘Coolest Place in Santa Rosa’ for ice skating at the Redwood Empire Ice Arena, and
  • Safari West to “explore the Sonoma Serengeti on an African wildlife safari alongside romping herds of exotic wildlife”.
